Launch News: Level 4 will begin rolling out June 2, 2023

We’ve been hard at work producing Level 4: Grammar & Punctuation for Life, which teaches kids all about grammar and advanced punctuation. Check out our recent blog post about why and how we teach grammar here. If you’ve been itching to get your kid to finally (yes, a split infinitive) tighten up the mechanics of their writing—no more misplaced commas and complicated subjunctive clauses, etc.—this is the summer to realize your goal. June Writers believes in the twin teaching pillars of rigor and joy, and Level 4 is full of big brain leaps that tickle your child’s brain. Check out a sample practice.

We will begin rolling out lessons and practices for Level 4 on June 2, 2023. Though in the past we’ve launched complete levels in one go, we’ve decided to roll out Level 4 in waves so we can make it available for summer learning. The first wave of Level 4 will appear on our site on June 2nd, and the next wave will go up in July.

Additional user updates

  • Direct notes. We’ve begun making notes directly in your child’s practices. In addition to our written feedback in the comments of the practice, you will now see direct mark-ups of your child’s writing—as appropriate to the specific practice—in the SeeSaw response slides. This allows us to give more fine-grained feedback on mechanics.

  • Comment conversations. Your child will sometimes receive requests to post a comment on one of their practices with additional analysis of an aspect of their work. We make these requests to check that your child has fully absorbed a concept, understands the basis of a spelling convention, etc. All of your child’s work and comments are private, and only visible to your child, you, and our instructors. If younger writers feel daunted by the physical work of typing a comment, they are welcome to post a verbal comment or your speech to text.
