Parent Tips: Practice 2.4.2
Practice 2.4.2 is a Big Brain Leap. We ask your child to see structure where they might initially just see a bunch of words. Adults generally take it for granted that there is a logic to how we order our thoughts and words. But this is a profound new way of seeing the world for a kid. If your child struggles with this leap, ask them why one sentence might come after the next, or help them set up the initial parts of the bubble web.
The core work here is critical thinking, so please note that it does not matter whether your child’s bubble web looks like a stunning piece of art or something that belongs in a preschool trash bin. Thinking is a messy process, and a bubble web is just thought on paper or screen. For that reason, your kid should do their bubble web in the medium that is easiest for them to use. It’s generally faster for most people to get a piece of scrap paper and go at it with a pencil, but it can also work to make one on a tablet with a touch device and pen. Choose the method that is least intrusive to your child’s thought process.
