Launch News: Level 3 Available March 20th

We’re excited to announce that Level 3: Texts Under Scrutiny will be available beginning March 20, 2023.

If your child struggles with or is ready to take on analytical reading and writing about challenging non-fiction texts, Level 3 is their rocket to success. Your child will learn:

  • Writing for audiences: We introduce the concept of audience in Levels 1 and 2, but Level 3 is where your child will use the core tools of rhetoric (ethos, logos, pathos, and kairos) to go deep into the intersection of audience and argument.

  • Advanced, analytical reading: Did you know that there are three more levels of reading to master after your child is comfortable with enjoying chapter books? Your child will learn the skills of the two reading levels after elementary reading–inspectional and analytical reading.

  • Deep argument analysis: Your child will use two complementary analysis structures to understand the content and rhetorical gestures embedded in a text–and then pick it apart. And we mean really pick apart. See a sample practice!

  • Developing an informed opinion: Your child will take what they’ve discovered using the skills above to develop and write about their informed opinion of a text. Your child will then learn how to present their opinion as part of a debate or part of a discussion.

  • And more! As with all June Writers levels, Level 3 also incorporates lessons and practices on spelling, Greek & Latin word roots, and editing.

Level 3 is designed for kids who are already comfortable writing paragraphs and/or short texts. When they’re finished with Level 3, your child will have the skills they’ll need to move on to longer-form writing.

Excited? So are we! We can’t wait to introduce your child to the wonderful world of power reading and analysis. If you’re not already a member, enroll today to begin sharing the joy and power of words with your child. (And yes, that is a new cat icon for Level 3.)
