News: Two big user experience improvements launching March 20th!

On March 20th, we will launch both Level 3: Texts Under Scrutiny and two big user experience improvements to our central content hub. Our goal with this new launch is to make it easier for you to get exactly what you need for your child(ren) from the June Writers curriculum. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Unlock any lesson and/or practice in SeeSaw!

Want to pick and choose a custom path for your child from all our curriculum or use our recommended progression but skip practices of skills that your child has already mastered? Our new central content hub system improvements will allow you to unlock any lesson and/or individual practice—across all of our levels—in SeeSaw. You’ll be able to see the practice instructions, preview the content, and note which skills and pre-requisite practices are involved to help you decide whether to unlock the lesson or practice. Note that we will unlock practices asap during regular business hours on a PST time schedule as well as on weekends, but with a slower response time.

Of course, you’re still also welcome to use our recommended progression. As part of our regular feedback process, we let your child know if they can skip specific practices and move forward to the next lesson.

Lessons: On our new Lesson pages, you’ll be able to watch the lesson video and unlock all of the lesson’s practices in SeeSaw, or just that individual practice.

Practices: You’ll soon be able to preview the instructions and skills of every practice before deciding whether to add it to your child’s SeeSaw feed. Don’t want to have to decide? That’s also fine. We’ll automatically seed your child’s SeeSaw feed with the next lesson from our recommended sequence.

2. Cross-cutting skill pages

Are you happy with the quality of your child’s ideas in their writing, but concerned with their mechanics or spelling and want them to pause to shore up their mastery? We are excited to announce that we will be launching three cross-cutting skill pages that consolidate all of the lessons and practices across our curriculum in one place:

  • Mechanics & Grammar

  • Spelling & Vocabulary

  • Editing

Our expectation is that this will give families the opportunity to spend time on targeted skill practice for an issue that you’re seeing come up often in their writing elsewhere. Or maybe your kid just loves spelling and roots and wants to do nothing else!

Skill pages: Browse the lesson video library to help your child brush up on a skill. If they’re not yet consistently using ending punctuation, they may not yet understand why it’s so helpful. Our lessons can help them find meaning in using periods consistently.

Skill pages: Is your child full of wonderful ideas but also not totally solid on contractions or writing date and clock time? Find and unlock the specific lessons they need to cement the physical skill in their body.

We’re excited about our upcoming March 20th launch. We can’t wait to share both Level 3: Texts Under Scrutiny and these two big user experience improvements with our members. Not a member yet? Enroll today!
