New Features: Extension practices, tips & quizzes

We’re excited to announce three new features: extension practices, tips, and lesson quizzes.

Extension Practices

Our curriculum is fast-paced, with little repetition, to suit the minds of bright children. But even brilliant minds sometimes need a little extra work on specific skills. So, if your child repeatedly struggles with verb tense consistency (e.g., the cat vomited and asks me for more food) or other skills, we will add extension practices to their feed. Extension practices cover a variety of verb issues, clause types, appositives, sentence formation, unwieldy sentences, spelling, and much more.

In-Practice Tips

Your child may sometimes have trouble getting started on a specific practice. So, we’ve begun adding pull-up help boxes to specific practices. These tip boxes help your child break down the writing task into manageable bites if they feel overwhelmed. Some tips also include vocabulary help and a link to our glossary for additional information. Your child can simply drag the box up from the bottom of the SeeSaw page to see the tip—or ignore it if they don’t need help.

Lesson Quizzes

We have also begun to roll out lesson quizzes. Expect to see more quizzes appear in your child’s feed over the coming months as we roll them out across all levels; our initial roll-out will focus on grammar and punctuation lessons. All our quizzes feature critical reading, multiple-choice questions, and a writing challenge. You will receive your child’s quiz results in our weekly progress report emails.
