Parent Tips: Self-Assessment

We frequently ask your child to compare their answers to ours and then record themselves explaining any differences. When this happens, note that it’s important that your kid notices what they got wrong and understands both why it’s wrong and why they made the mistake. If your child is tempted—like most—to rush through this step, encourage them to slow down and answer the question “why?” Why is your answer wrong? Why do you think you made that mistake? What do you need to remember for next time?
